Kate Shapiro

Senior Strategist

Kate Shapiro is a mom and organizer by calling and trade. She was raised in and still calls Atlanta home, where she lives with and is humbled daily by her four-year-old daughter.

Kate comes out of and was trained up by Southern racial, economic, and gender justice movements. Having served in a variety of organizations and leadership roles including Southerners on New Ground, Women’s March, Kindred Southern Healing Justice Collective, and ReFrame, she brings 19 years of experience in grassroots organizing, campaign development (mostly abolitionist, criminal justice reform & feminist campaigns), popular political education, and movement-rooted electoral campaigning. She is at her happiest on the doors and stitching together shared work with people and places others have deemed ‘unwinnable’. She also coaches red state campaigners and co-stewards an infrastructure project called the Murph ‘The Multi-Use Radical People’s Hall’ in Southwest Atlanta in her abundant free time.
