Kung Li

Kung Li has been involved in campaigns to close prisons and jails, minimize the detention of migrants, change sentencing laws, and reallocate municipal and state budgets away from punishment to invest in community-centered services. Named by American Lawyer as one of the nation's Top 50 Litigators Under 40, they were lead or co-lead counsel prosecuting multiple class action civil rights lawsuits enforcing the Fourth, Fifth, Eighth, and Fourteenth Amendments. Kung Li has served as executive director of the Southern Center for Human Rights as well as the Sunrise Initiative, and is the author of Begin the World Over, a counterfactual history of the Age of Revolutions.
